Commission A Portrait by Artist

Diane Grant Czajkowski

Diane studies from life as well from photographic reference. Her artwork speaks for itself, although many people have commented of the life-likeness that can be seen in her work. Czajkowski's work has depth in many ways, looking at some of the horses and dogs she has done the animal appear to have life and breathe.

How to get the best photograph

Try getting about at eye level with your dog, but get in close, at your own risk of course! Don’t do this with pets that you are no your own or ones that don’t know you very well.

Tip – A good general tip on dogs is to always ask their owner this question: "Can I pet your dog?" Asking this gives both owner and dog a heads up on your presence.

Dogs just love treats, if you have someone around to hold a few treats up you should get a nice picture.

For your horse get in as close as you can to the head without being too close. Walk up to your horse and take a few steps back, again watch where you are stepping! Horses like noise, if you make some and it may help you get a nice picture.

Dog or Horse – you need to have a clear, sharp photograph. The better the photograph the better I can see them to make a wonderful piece of art for you. Just let loose and shoot a roll of film and pick the one that you like the best. Digital pictures are fine as long as they are sharp.

You can do it, just call your dog over or go out to the barn for your horse. And remember outdoor light is natural and beautiful, if its not snowing or raining you should have some fun taking pictures. If you have to shoot indoors that’s fine, send your photo, I’ll tell you if it is suitable. Don’t worry, you shoot, I’ll draw!
