Insights From A Luzerne County
Fair Artist, by Michael and
Diane Czajkowski
Published in The Back Mountain Community News
November 2005
Pennsylvania Equine and Canine Artist
Diane Grant Czajkowski is known throughout Pennsylvania for
her fine art equestrian portraits.
Diane has been attending horse shows in the
Dallas area since she was a child. She spent many days at what was
then called "The Lehman Horse Show Grounds" a very popular show site
for the showing of horses from PA and surrounding states. One of
Diane’s horse portraits was on the cover of the thirty third annual
Lehman Horse Show program cover.
Diane continues to draw and paint horses,
perfecting what she has been doing since childhood. Now with skill
and grace she presents her beautiful drawings and paintings for
shows in our Northeast area, as well as Southeast PA, as she attends
horse and dog shows as an artist.
This year upon entering our local
43rd Luzerne County Fair, Diane won several ribbons in
art and photography.
To name just a few of her first place blue
ribbons winners: First place in "Animal Portrait" in oil painting,
first place in "Portrait and Figure" oil painting, also first place
in Pastels for her stunning portrait of an Italian Greyhound dog.
Czajkowski won several other ribbons at the fair, when asked which
she enjoyed the most she commented:
"I just love painting horses and dogs. I am
thrilled that I won so many ribbons for my art and photography. I
think what I am most pleased with are the blue ribbons for the
horses and the dog. I have a passion for doing animals. As I paint
commissions for people of their animals, I feel I get to know
something about that animal, and they become a part of
me."
"I am most thrilled with my first place ribbons
for my horse and dog portraits because I put so much into them. I am
happy that others can enjoy them and that is why I love
participating in our County Fair.
"I just love horses and dogs, I think they are a
special gift. They are a pleasure to be
around." - Diane Grant Czajkowski
Local Artist Exhibits In
International Show
Published in The Back
Mountain Community News December 2005
Equine, Canine and wildlife
artist Diane Grant Czajkowski is exhibiting paintings "Foal Fun" and
"Fawn Fair" and three other paintings as a part of the 2005
International Exhibit of Miniature Art.
The show is now on display at
"The Waterlily", 103 East Overbrook Avenue, Shavertown, PA, November
13 through December 31. You can stop in and view the show: you will
find the "Foal Fun" and "Fawn Fair" paintings in the gallery by
making two right turns once you are inside the gallery.
In the true spirit of
miniature art, each or the paintings in the show is 3 x 5 inches or
smaller. This is a standard size that is used by most of the
national miniature art groups.
Come and see all the marvelous
paintings this international show attracts to our community. You may
contact Diane by visiting www.DianesHorses.com.
"Each year the CPA, Cider
Painters of America, annual show attracts paintings from artists
around the world as well as many of our fabulous local artists. You

Guide" "Portrait of An
Artist"
Published in The Times

... "When I was in seventh
grade, I used to draw horse heads and all the kids would ask if I
could do one for them," Czajkowski said.
... When she
paints an animal, she tries to capture its personality. She will
work from photographs but prefers to meet an animal in person before
she draws it. An interest in anatomy - she has a collection of
anatomy books - has served her well in her art...
...She has been
doing animal portraits since the 1970s but is still flattered when
people acknowledge the likeness between their pets and her
paintings.
